ABOUT ME

Talented Soloist and Singer

All ABOUT SIGNE

Signe has had a lifelong desire to sing that started when she echoed the Irish lullabies of her mother and has continued on stages of all sizes and on three continents. The family traditions included singing for houseguests, handing down helpful techniques for the high notes, and hearing nightly beautiful Irish ditties like “Too-rah-loo-rah-loo-rah”, “Glocca Mora”, “When Irish Eyes are Smiling”, and “Danny Boy”.

Who Signe is

Her inherited talent was recognized throughout her school years with solos in school and church productions and was formally discovered when she won a voice scholarship by audition from the “Hollywood Opera Reading Club”.

Her History

At the University of Southern California, she took music theory classes and diction for the singing of international songs. As a young adult one of her first jobs was at an Italian restaurant that coincidentally presented dinner theater where “We sing while you dine”, a pastime that lead to finding singing opportunities wherever she went and fascinated her with musical theater and opera.
Colleagues there told her about the inspiring Phil Moore Workshop (Lena Horne bandleader) where she practiced popular singing for ten years, showcasing often at Los Angeles venues such as “The Improv”, “Marla’s Memory Lane”, and the “Gardenia”.
The Director recommended her as a featured singer to go to Japan for “Hollywood Lights” for three months where she did 180 shows. At a church retreat talent show, she was discovered by world class violinist and director Charles Veal, Jr., who featured her in concerts including the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion, on KUSC radio, and in multiple studio recording projects
Back in the Dinner Theaters, a role of Christine in an off-Broadway production of “Phantom of the Opera” lead her to meet a tenor from LA Opera who needed a soprano for a busy schedule lasting for years of shows at luncheons, private parties, weddings, concerts, casinos, restaurants, and churches.
Exploring her Norwegian heritage, she gave recitals for three consecutive years at the Midsummer Festival of Cal Lutheran University. Later in a new city, San Diego, and under the tutelage of LA Opera Soloist Angelique Brudzinski, Signe has found her greatest artistic expression as a church soloist, a band singer at Italian festivals, and as a competitor at talent shows, while she continues to enjoy entertaining in Italian restaurants.
